Question Regarding Secondary & Runes (Mes)
I've never actually tried, but I've seen it stated on GW Wiki:
Is it true that you cannot use any runes for/from you secondary profession? Reason I ask, is I absolutely detest (as I think many others do) the look/armor of Mesmers! But, I'd like to start a char using mainly Mesmer skills. Mix between primarily Mes skills and Nec, more than likely... and with Elite Nex armor I don't care about the Fast Casting primary (just like I don't have Soul Reaping maxed for Necs, though it's their primary; not always necessary to max primary), but want to be able to max (above 12) Mes skills. If I cant use runes, then it's not possible. Any way to create a Mes build, with something else as a primary, and still max Mes skills? Thanks, all |

It's true that you can't use runes belonging to your secondary profession; it isn't possible to put Mesmer runes onto Necromancer armor.
The highest you could pump a secondary attribute is 12, although it is possible to raise it a little higher. There are consumables that temporarily give bonuses to all of your attributes, and you can also pay for blessings at shrines which can raise your secondary attributes (if the world has the favor of the gods at the time). |

I was pretty sure this had not changed, but was hoping... You'd figure with something as big as GW, they'd add some more options for the Mesmer. Not difficult to create a few more different models for faces and armor, both of which I find horrible. Ah, well... Thanks again for clarifying. It's the same for Elite skills too, correct? I'm assuming so, since I don't ever remember seeing the Elites of any secondary profs listed at skill trainers. |

But, yes, you can cap, and use, Elite skills for your secondary. |

You can use any elite skill you've capped (or used a tome to get) on you're character, as long as it's either in your Primary or Secondary profession.

And you can change your secondary once you have ascended, and continue capping skills until you have maxed out the Skill Hunter title by obtaining every Elite in the game. This makes your heroes, very very happy.
